Mental & Emotional Health
Depression and Anxiety are symptoms of 100's of biological imbalances. It is important to understand what is causing it in order to help find a solution that will work.
However, simply getting a label that it's ADHD is not going to solve the problem that is so uncomfortable for the individual, though it does offer them certain options. ADHD comes with a barrage of symptoms and challenges for an individual, and usually neurological markers and biomedical commonalities among those experiencing the symptoms.
It's a Disorder, which means a collection of symptoms that have been assigned a diagnosis and labeled so that the individual can get the needed accommodations and sometimes medications to improve their quality of life. AND. This is still not looking under the hood.
I've worked with hundreds of kids under the age of 10 who were either diagnosed or would likely qualify for ADD/ADHD, and this rigorous study in the Lancet in 2011 shows what I see clinically.
When artificial food dyes and flavorings & highly allergenic foods specific to the individuals were removed from the diet, 64% had a resolution of symptoms of ADHD and ODD (Oppositional Defiance Disorder) equally. They were then given low and high IGE food challenges; 63% of the responders had a full relapse of symptoms.

When the diet was reinitiated, the symptoms resolved again. They actually wanted to name this Food Induced ADHD. When a number like 64% shows that the reams of children and adults suffering may be helped, this information should be readily available public knowledge and offered as a first line of defense.
It's not just the annoyance and stress of ADD/ADHD that needs to be considered, but also the brain changes clinically shown that have occurred and that are likely driving the symptoms.
FOOD SENSITIVITY VS FOOD ALLERGY
Here is the difference between a food sensitivity and a food allergy as run by an allergist:
-Allergist tests IgE usually which is an immediate and true allergy with symptoms ranging from histaminic reactions like hives to anaphylaxis.
-IgG reactions are known as delayed response reactions, which include food sensitivities, where damage to the lining of the intestines can be caused as measured by Actin as well as long-term ongoing inflammation can occur, which can cause any and all physical and neurological, and mental health challenges.Natural Supports for damaged and imbalanced Pre-frontal Cortex as often seen in ADHD:Exercise: High-intensity physical activity enhances blood flow and is associated with reductions in symptoms.Eat a higher-protein diet: Consuming foods that are higher in protein increases focus and is beneficial for most people with ADD/ADHD.Reduce screen time: Spending too much time on video games, social media, and other tech gadgets increases attentional problems, according to research in Plos One. Screen time should be limited to less than half an hour per day.Consider nutritional supplements: Research shows that omega-3 fatty acid supplements improve attention in those with ADD/ADHD.
